After ten fabulous, highly quotable seasons, Michael Kors is saying auf wiedersehen to Project Runway.
His replacement on the judging panel? None other than Zac Posen, who earlier today tweeted, "So excited to be the new judge on @ProjectRunway Season 11!! Joining @heidiklum @ninagarcia and @TimGunn." On what Posen learned from his predecessor during his stint as a PR guest judge in Seasons 3 and 4, the designer told the AP (via Fox) that Kors "was always a generous, warm mentor." We can only hope he also picked up a few metaphors along the way.
Kors's exit is apparently due to scheduling conflicts, and he'll thankfully be returning as a guest judge during the season finale.
Also appearing for a guest judge spot at some point, according to a Lifetime press release, is the generally Project Runway-shunning Christian Siriano! So that's exciting. Other guest judges will include Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, Joan and Melissa Rivers (yes!), and Charlotte York GoldenblattKristin Davis.
But swapping Posen for Kors isn't the only change in store for PR: Season 11's theme (taking a cue from Tyra, now, are we Heidi?) will be "There is no 'I' in 'TEAM' but there is in 'FASHION!'"(see what they did there?)--which roughly translates to three whole months of those cringeworthy group challenges, a twist that "throws 16 eager designers into a panic." Poor things--is it too late for us to warn them?
