Al Roker Takes Fashion Cues from Girls, Wears Poler Sleeping Bag to Deliver Weather

When Hannah donned a sleeping bag with arm holes (which Elijah described as "a sad, limp, little glow worm” getup) on last Sunday's episode of Girls, we were both perplexed and fascinated. And it turns out, we weren't the only ones. Today, Al Roker and the rest of the Today Show cast all sported their very own Poler Knapsacks. We caught up with Poler founder Benji Wagner to find out what he thought of the unlikely endorsement--and how his design wound up on Girls in the first place.

When Hannah donned a sleeping bag with arm holes (which Elijah described as "a sad, limp, little glow worm” getup) on last Sunday's episode of Girls, we were both perplexed and fascinated.

Turns out, we weren't the only ones.

This morning, on Today, for no known reason other than it being really, really cold out and Al Roker being really, really awesome, the Joe Biden-loving meteorologist inexplicably donned his own Poler "Napsack" to bring the nation its weather forecast in that special way that only Al Roker can. And that's not all: Back at the studio, Willie Geist and Natalie Morales were having a Poler party of their very own.

We caught up with Poler founder Benji Wagner to find out what he thought about the unlikely endorsement.

"I think it was hilarious," Wagner said over email. "Who doesn't want to see Al Roker dressed like a giant pickle?! the Napsack isnt meant to be super serious. It's meant to keep you warm at home or on the road. As a bonus, you look like a giant garden gnome, a pickle, and a glow worm all at once."

Seeing as the audience of Today doesn't necessarily have a massive overlap with the one that tunes into the youthful, oft-naked galavants of Hannah and co (well, except for us) we were also wondering: Are Poler Napsacks now officially a thing?

"I hope so!" Wagner, who is currently working on a Poler x Nike capsule collection, said. "We are really grateful for all the people embracing our message and our products. We are trying to bring our #CampVibes to people of all kinds and inspire them."

As for how the Poler knapsack wound up on Girls in the first place, Wagner said, "I believe they bought it [off-the-rack.] We didn't get a request but would have been happy to help if we had!"

"We were stoked [to see it on the show,]" he added. "[We got] nothing but positive feedback. Exposure on shows like these helps raise awareness and sales as well."

Hannah Horvath, trendsetter? If temperatures continue to hover well below freezing, we wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be the case!
