Alexander Wang is looking for some fresh ideas for his next It bag. And he’s turning to Samsung, of all places, to get them.
The bag will be inspired by sketches and photos created by a group of influencers–photographers, stylists, and friends of the designer–whose images will serve as the basis for the bag’s print. And here’s where Samsung comes in: All the images will be created using a Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Proceeds from the sale of the bag will be donated to ArtStart, a New York City charity that aims to nurture the creative talents of at-risk children and youths.
“I am most inspired from my everyday life and the people that surround me, so the idea of a co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting,” Wang told the trade. “This collaboration represents a new way that technology and style can come together. And, through a concerted effort, I am happy to be a part of supporting such a great charity as ArtStart that embraces creativity and art in a way that can change lives.”
Apple has a pretty big hold over the fashion crowd with the ubiquitous iPhone–but maybe this new partnership with Wang is just the beginning of a campaign from Samsung to chip away at its market. Could more fashion-minded collabs be in the future for Samsung?
