After resisting the trend for a long time, Essie has now officially and unequivocally thrown its hat into the nail art ring. Introducing: Essie "Sleek Stick" nail wraps.

The nail consumer is obviously hungry for the new and exciting, but Essie has always tread lightly. First came its subtle (for the market) Luxeffects glittery top coats, then magnetic "reptile" polishes. Now the brand is putting its nail know-how into nail stickers. And not surprisingly, they're really, really good.

The "Sleek Stick" nail wraps are available in 12 designs, and there's not a single one that makes us cringe. [Ed. note: Is it sad that this is the way we think of nail art now?] They're pretty classic, but have enough bling and flair to make a nail art aficionado happy. Even the animal prints are fairly muted. Essie Weingarten, the brand's founder and creative director, was inspired by textures she saw "on the catwalks of New York and Milan."

They work much like other nail polish stickers--clean your nails, choose the right size, stick, and file. The sets go for $10.25 (find them here), and just include the stickers--you need to have a nail file and cuticle stick on hand for proper sizing.

What do you think? Is Essie late to the party or are these a welcome addition to the nail art chaos?
