Katy Perry Wore a Tiny Version of Aretha Franklin's Famous Bow Hat to the Inauguration

Katy Perry--an outspoken Obama supporter (I mean, nothing says support louder than Obama nail art, right?)--was in attendance at the Inauguration festivities this morning along with bf John Mayer.

The hat Aretha wore, by then-unknown milliner Luke Song, got a lot of attention (and still does, according to NPR), and yes, it even had its own short-lived Twitter account.

Perry appreciates a good wardrobe prop, so she added a mini version of the famous bow hat to her floppy fedora. She told People, "I had it made. I thought it would be fun to do a shout-out back to four years ago."

A very fitting homage, and we applaud Katy for keeping the cupcake bra out of the fashion equation today. (HuffPo says her striped coat is Rodarte. California girls sticking together.)
