Right now every email in our inbox that isn’t related to fashion week is a pitch for Valentine’s Day. Pink this and pink that and they’re all pretty boring. But this one, pitching a ‘bespoke’ panty service that offers customers the chance to personalize a pair of fancy silk chiffon panties with their lover’s name (or whatever dirty word they can think of) embroidered across the crotch, caught our attention.
It’s a new service from Fleur du Mal that launched yesterday. Fleur du Mal is a relatively new high end lingerie and ready to wear brand by Jennifer Zuccarini. Zuccarini co-founded Kiki de Montparnasse, so she knows a thing or two about sexy lingergie. We had some questions for her about how this new service came about–namely, can you embroider anything on these panties?
Fashionista: How did the idea come about?
Jennifer Zuccarini: It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. I love the idea of your lover’s name or initials on silk panties. Most monograms are meant to be seen, I like that this can be something more intimate and fun. We will continue to evolve the service in upcoming seasons.
Has you ever had a particularly awesome or awful Valentine’s day? It can be a real bummer of a holiday.
The best was last year, I happened to be working in Paris at the same time as my fiancé–pretty cliché, but I’ll take Valentine’s Day in Paris anytime. Worst? I broke up twice with the same boyfriend on Valentine’s Day two years in a row – I think it’s actually the biggest breakup holiday of the year.
Is there anything you won’t embroider?
I don’t want to give people any naughty ideas…
Are you a Christian Grey fan?
I read about 3/4 of the first book, everyone asks me about it. I think Rihanna said it best when asked about 50 Shades, she replied, “amateurs.”
