Karl Lagerfeld has been trying to unload his total dump of a 3 bed, 3.5 bath Gramercy Park-overlooking apartment since 2011. He bought the place in 2006 and, according to some blogs, may have never actually moved in.
We’re not sure why he wanted to sell it (he was supposed to have made $108.2 million last year so he shouldn’t have needed the money), but hopefully it wasn’t meant to be an investment because it has finally sold, for about $4.5 million, $2 million less than what he paid, Curbed is reporting. The original asking price was $5.2 million.
But why didn’t Lagerfeld like the apartment? Some guesses:
The building didn’t allow cats.
The building allowed cats, but there wasn’t enough space for Choupette and her two maids.
There’s nowhere to do outdoor photoshoots with Choupette and supermodels.
There wasn’t enough natural light for his sketching.
He’s moving to Dallas.
