BCBG Max Azria Fall 2013: Luxe Grunge

BCBG Max Azria may be a contemporary label, but this season the brand seemed keen to shed their mid-range price point--or at least their mid-range image. But where were all the celebs in the front row?

BCBG Max Azria may be a contemporary label, but this season the brand seemed keen to shed their mid-range price point--or at least their mid-range image.

Between the intricately laser cut leather (with sheer paneled sleeves), patterned floor length fur vests, and gem-encrusted shirts and tops, BCBG had a surprisingly luxe take on Fall 2013. Though the brand made sure to inject some contemporary streetwear flavor by way of the styling: Piles and piles of of loose, long layers and beanies added a grunge-y twist to the collection.

In some cases the layers worked, as with a filmy white t-shirt poking out of a structured patterned top-and-pant combo; and in some cases they didn't. We were thoroughly perplexed, for instance, by the model's leather thigh-high legwarmers, which were styled with every look. Were they socks? Part of a boot? What purpose would they serve? Happily, we have a feeling they won't be making it to retail. The fur vests, and leather tops, on the other hand, will probably be a hit in stores.

And as for BCBG's usually starry front row? Well, it just wasn't there. The show usually reliably snags several B-list celebs and maybe even an A-lister but we couldn't recognize one person in the front row. And we weren't the only ones...
