Beauty Experts Predict the Biggest Runway Trends for Fall 2013

Nails:

Alexis Page, MAC’s Director of Global Product Development, and Tracylee, a Sally Hansen Nail Ambassador (and the nail guru responsible for the “bloody” nails at last season’s Prabal Gurung show), have some opinions on what will be popular on tips this season.

Color: Both Page and Tracylee tell us to expect to see more jewel tones. “We’ll start to see more warm colors and less of the cool-toned and bright shades we’ve seen in the past,” Tracylee said. Emerald green–the Pantone color of 2013–should also make a strong showing on nails, as well as red and gold.

Nudes: Yes, plain nails will still be a big trend. Page told us, “Neutral nails are classic backstage because they don’t take away from the clothing or accessories.” But Tracylee thinks nude coverage won’t be too opaque or too sheer this season, but rather some happy medium.

Nail Art: It’s still huge with consumers and it will still have a showing on the runway (we’ve already received notices from several nail wrap companies like Rococo and Nail Rock who are sponsoring shows). “We’ll see glitter nails, hand-painted nail art, and 3D embellishments,” Tracylee said. “I predict that there will be a lot of color blocking and negative space on the nail.”
