Creatures of the Wind Fall 2013: A Little Less Whimsy

Creatures of the Wind designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters continued their tradition of designing unfussy silhouettes in surprising fabrics and super fresh colors and prints. This season, though, there was a little less whimsy and a few more masculine influences.

Creatures of the Wind designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters continued their tradition of designing unfussy silhouettes in surprising fabrics and super fresh colors and prints. This season, though, there was a little less whimsy and a few more masculine influences. Models wore buttoned-to-the-top shirts with short ties with their boxy leather skirts.

At the same time, the collection was probably their most cohesive, mature and wearable yet. Structured coats with leather accents will likely sell and we swooned over a thick double-breasted plaid wool blazer with wide lapels and thick stripes on the sleeves (even if it was a bit Thom Browne-esque). A multi-colored jacquard, which made its way onto coats, dresses, and skirts, was also very appealing and made some otherwise not-so-imaginative pieces a lot more interesting.
