A Star-Studded Carnival to Celebrate the Launch of Prabal Gurung for Target

Sometimes it can feel like there's no group more jaded than the fashion pack. But when you turn Pier 57 into an indoor carnival, complete with rides, games, and food trucks--like they did last night for the Prabal Gurung for Target launch party--well, it's pretty hard to feign boredom.

Sometimes it can feel like there's no group more jaded than the fashion pack. But when you turn Pier 57 into an indoor carnival, complete with rides, games, and food trucks--like they did last night for the Prabal Gurung for Target launch party--well, it's pretty hard to feign boredom.

No one was more impressed than Prabal Gurung himself.

"I feel like I'm at someone else's event," he gushed, insisting he wasn't playing humble. "I walk in here and I'm like, woooow this is amazing! Then I realize it's for me."

"All I ever wanted to do was design and all this other stuff is just great perks," Gurung added, truly awed.

There were plenty of celebs on hand to celebrate the man of the hour, including the star of the campaign, Olivia Thirlby. Though they shot the campaign and the accompanying (totally adorable) video during Hurricane Sandy, she says the overall experience was worth it. "When an opportunity like this comes along, you don't say no," Thirlby explained. "To be in the fashion world, to be associated with a designer like Prabal, to just get to have the exciting experience of getting to be a part of this--it's a no brainer."

Ne-Yo, who performed later in the night, was just as enthralled with the fashion scene.

"Fashion is the easiest way to define who you are without speaking," he said. "I went to the Givenchy and Versace shows in Paris and loved both of them. And I gotta admit, when I met Donatella Versace for the first time, I got a little crush on her!" [ed note: Um, could this be fashion's new power couple?]

Oh, and what about the clothes? Well, when the journos present are seriously considering sneaking away from the red carpet to snap up the pieces they want--even as ultimate cool girl Rashida Jones is making her way down the line--that's how you know it's good, people. The names of the highly-covetable prints all allude to stages of relationships, from "First Date" to "Meet the Parents." We asked Gurung where his inspiration came from, and the answer for him was simple:

"Love! It always is inspiration--for design, for life, everything."

Check out the photos from the red carpet and the mind-blowingly fun event--and get ready to fall in love with Prabal Gurung for Target yourself when it hits stores February 10!
