Five years go, Alexander Wang was a promising up-and-comer best known for his knits and an obsession with the stylings of the early ’90s. Today, he’s running a multi-million-dollar ready-to-wear and accessories business, boosted by his family’s manufacturing ties in China. In December 2012, luxury conglomerate PPR chose Wang to succeed endlessly lauded Nicolas Ghesquière as the creative director of Balenciaga. All eyes will be on Wang this month—and for the next several years.
