Designed by seasoned Florentine native and accessories industry vet Sofia Sizzi, Giulietta consistently updates that distinctly "Dolce Vita", Italiana glamour. Giovanna Battaglia is all about this modern molta-bella, and one could sense her insistence on not missing a single look as she sprinted into Cafe Rouge to grab her seat at Wednesday's show just as it was getting underway.
For fall 2013, Giulietta's eye turned toward the 70's side of the Italian sportswear legacy, presenting a parade of coordinated separates that conjured a jet-set vibe. Geometric paneling lent the assortment graphic impact, as did a predominantly black palette, accented by malty rusts and a chili red. A diamond-motif occurred in both print and jacquard cloths evoking an ironic, leisure-suit sensibility for day and madcap, hostess gown flair for evening. The latter was beautifully guilded by black faceted-stone embroidery that did away with any need for fussy jewelry. This type of attention to detail pointed to Sizzi's background in accessory design, and serves to further distinguish Giulietta as a collection in the future.
