Katie Ermilio has shown another lovely collection of cocktail attire that was conservative in quantity of looks and color variety, but generous on elegance and charm.
For a designer to impress us with a collection that contains only two colors (one of which was black) is no small feat.
A former art history major, Ermilio referenced some of her favorite pieces from the Impressionist era. “They all have a certain vibe…the mood came to life in the clothes.”
The mood was refined and upscale. While formal dresses can at times overpower the wearer, there was a natural ease about Ermilio’s dresses. I feel like if Sofia Coppola styled a rich kids’ prom, this is what the girls would wear.
Subtle details like a tiny black bow or a pleat packed tons of charm, as did fur accents on outerwear and accessories. A beanie paired with an evening gown? Smart styling via Natalie Joos.
Speaking of fur, this season saw the first “large leap” into the category for Ermilio. And it definitely suited her girl.
