Marissa Webb Fall 2013: Getting Serious

Marissa Webb’s dedication to impeccable tailoring has not waned since her debut collection last season.

While a lot of designers describe their customer as their “girl,” Webb’s made it pretty clear with this collection that she designs clothes for grown-ups. Not that there’s necessarily an age attached to her wares–but there’s definitely a seriousness.

The collection was filled with tough-chic separates like leather pants, boyish button-downs, pencil skirts and sleek wool coats in a versatile color palette of navy, oxblood, and lots of black and grey. A couple of leather cowl neck shells gave the collection a little edge, if the tailored culottes took some away.

Overall, it was a strong, salable collection that showed that she has a specific customer in mind, which is always a good thing for a new brand.
