Peter Som’s fall 2013 collection, like his digital-only show format, was pared down and simplified to only the most important elements.
For Som, that meant opening his show with a series of monochromatic looks, including a downright minimalist sleeveless tuxedo top with slim pants. Other black-and-white looks weren’t so simple: Som played with texture and prints, arranging them in different panels on dresses and tops to create wholly unique ensembles.
The runway later gave way to leopard, and then bursts of bold prints and color, a Som signature. Some of our favorite looks were the muppet fur coats towards the end, a playful finale to a short, simplified show.
A word on accessories: Som is not exactly known for his purses, but the furry clutches in bright blue or dusty pinks will certainly get him noticed this season. We love them–and we have a feeling they’ll wind up on street style stars next season, but we’ve got one bone to pick: They’re a little too similar to purses Prada made in nearly the same fabric and color scheme a few seasons ago.
