Reed Krakoff shows are always classy affairs. I walked to yesterday's fall show at a gallery space in west Chelsea behind three brand devotees, all of them toting Reed Krakoff bags. I wouldn't call them "Reed girls" because the kind of ladies who wear Reed Krakoff are definitely women. Stylish women with means, who have their shit together. They're coolly elegant, just like Krakoff's designs.
For fall 2013, Krakoff opened the show with a series of navy looks (a color that suits everyone--thank you!). There were relaxed jersey jackets and lush cashmere shells paired with slouchy panel skirts and a great pair of leather sweatpants (on look 8, just trust me). Krakoff is known for his generous use of leather, and fall 2013 will have no shortage of skin. While python made an appearance as a print on silk tunic dresses, alligator is Krakoff's preferred exotic skin for fall. Krakoff played with alligator as a print as well as a medium used in boots and bags and even a vest. An alligator skin print showed up on cashmere knits, and a pony skin coat in the same print elicited ooh's and aah's from the front row. It was relaxed luxury at its best.
