The Sportmax woman can be informal or casual–but she’s always polished: A fact which the brand’s fall 2013 collection demonstrated perfectly.
The show opened with a grey fur tuxedo coat, which set the tone for the sophisticated, luxe collection. Lines were clean, though far from minimalist. Expertly tailored coats and jackets popped up in cobalt, baby blue, and black.
Texture was used throughout the collection to create dimension: Panels of croc and technical fabric created a color-on-color stripe design, as did panels of mohair and felt. It’s something we’ve seen throughout this season: Designers are turning to textures, not colors, to add interest to their clothes.
The eveningwear brought this point home. Grey and black dresses had sheer panels and lasercut felt diamonds applied to tulle. The dresses, like the pleated skirts with slits, were sexy, sophisticated, but above all, subtle.
