This morning at Pier 59 studios, Ecco Domani winner Susan Woo presented a collection that was all about romance--but not without edge. "I always, always have a really strong woman as my muse," explained Woo. "She's consistent throughout every season and this season was about the romantic approach. It's about a fairy tale and she's the damsel in distress. She's in a bind, but instead of that traditional story of waiting, she sees her situation and she's like, 'I'm going to save myself!'"

And save herself she did, in organic black wool bustiers, perforated calf leather shorts, and simple cotton, mesh-trimmed button-downs to the tune of La Roux's "I'm Not Your Toy." It was a very clean, assertive collection, made entirely of organic material ("Even our leathers!" exclaimed Woo) in New York and LA. So you can feel good about wearing her eggplant snakeskin button-down, and maybe a little sexy, too. "It's funny, I call [my muse] Jane Bond," says the designer. "You look at James Bond, right? And you see how capable he is, so I figure, why can't that be a woman? That's my woman. And she's sexy. She's all those things. And that's how women are now."
