Trendspotting: Shine On

Vinyl, PVC, and latex clothing usually send one's mind straight to the gutter. Or to a vision of a catsuit. It's certainly not versatility, wearability, or comfort. I know it's not just me. However, fall/winter 2013 is putting a spin on these preconceptions, with plenty of bright, shiny, and kinky nuggets.

However, fall/winter 2013 is putting a spin on these preconceptions, with plenty of bright, shiny, and kinky nuggets. Subversive but subdued, these glossy materials have been adorning one look after another with a few especially memorable pitstops in London. Felder Felder and Burberry's ghostly transparent latex outings infused the collections with a delicate eroticism, while Topshop Unique's patent leather numbers were tough and chic. It's not like practicality was ever fashion's strong suit, anyway.
