Investigators are looking into wreckage from a plane found on the beach of Curacao, an island off the coast of Venezuela, to see if it could be the missing plane carrying Vittorio Missoni, Reuters is reporting.

Missoni's plane went missing in early January; so far, the only evidence from the mysterious case is a bag found on the shores of Curacao that had been stowed on the missing plane. The 72-year-old pilot of the plane reportedly flew with an expired license.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, an article published in the Curaco Chronicle states that "there are indications that these parts belong to the recent aircraft which carried the well known Vittorio Missoni."

Venezuelan officials have dismissed talk of a potential kidnapping.
