We literally laughed out loud during the fourth episode on the first season of Girls, when Hannah’s well-intentioned co-workers matter-of-factly mentioned that her eyelids were "really oily." Perhaps this show has much more mainstream fashion influence than would have guessed: Super shiny lids have taken off as the runaway beauty trend of the Fall 2013 runway season. Yep, eye gloss is the new lip gloss.

During our travels from New York to London to Milan to Paris over the past four weeks, we’ve spied a plethora of peepers framed with a high-shine finish in a variety of hues: Onyx at Just Cavalli, Donna Karan, and Moschino Cheap & Chic; bronze at Tom Ford and Bibhu Mohapatra; chocolate at Sass & Bide; peach at Marni and Givenchy; and white at Giambattista Valli, just to name a few.

And while most makeup artists have been relying on MAC's cult-classic Clear Lipglass to quickly create lacquered lids, at a few select shows they’ve used the forthcoming MAC Pro Eye Gloss in Mother of Pearl and Black Sea (launching in September). If you don’t want to wait (or spend any extra money), get a jump on the trend and DIY the dewy look with Vaseline—using the pads of your fingers, dab it over your powder shadow to simulate the look.

What do you think of the eye sheen--will you try it or should it stay on the runway?
