Fashion Companies Reportedly Courting Nicolas Ghesquière to Launch His Own Label

Ever since Nicolas Ghesquière left Balenciaga--after over ten years of critical and commercial success for the house--the fashion media has been wondering what would become of him. But beyond opening a woefully-underused Twitter account, Ghesquière has remained silent. And in that silence, fashion insiders have starting to talk about the designer's future in fashion... and imminent return.

In an interview with The Cut, Ghesquière's longtime muse and collaborator Marie-Amélie Sauvé said she thinks "he'll do something in fashion because he is very passionate about it."

And according to recent report in the New York Post, Ghesquière is being courted by several investors looking to launch a Ghesquière-helmed label. Offers are supposedly on the table from LVMH, Li & Fung, and Diesel.

Not mentioned are Ghesquière's former bosses at PPR, with whom he reportedly clashed over creative interests. It's believed that Ghesquière is holding out for an offer that gives him an equity stake.

Needless to say, we'll be keeping an eye (and ear) out.
