Were you looking for something to make this dismal rainy Tuesday more bearable? Here you go: J.Crew's indefatigable President Jenna Lyons and shoes--lots and lots of gorgeous J.Crew shoes.
In a video posted earlier this morning, Lyons discusses the design process, sources of inspiration, and the small Italian town where J.Crew manufactures all of its shoes. She says that when shoes come in that don't quite work out, the team calls them "ugly dollies." But the ones that do work out--the ones we lust after season after season--are "beautiful, shiny ponies" and "fairies."
"There's a sense of sparkle in a shoe," Lyons says, "and I don't mean like sequins. It's a little something extra."
Some other Jenna Lyons fun facts provided by the clip:
• She owns 289 pairs of shoes, some of which she's never worn. • She considers leopard a neutral. • She says she's "been known to frighten a dog" with her shoes. • Our collective girl crush is still full-on. (See Lyons's Nike dunks for evidence.)
