Kate Middleton and Prince William hit the St. Patrick's Day parade at the Aldershot Barracks yesterday to honor soldiers for the Irish holiday, and the event ended up being a bit more exciting than the usual royal public outing. (And no, not because Prince Harry had too many green Jello shots.)

The Duchess of Cambridge suffered a wardrobe malfunction well known by any woman who lives in an urban environment: She was a victim of the dreaded heel-stuck-in-a-grate phenomenon.

Middleton, who wore the same green Emilia Wickstead coat she donned last St. Patrick's Day (the same way you save your "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" t-shirt for its annual outing) was on her way to hand out sprigs of shamrocks to soldiers when it happened. Prince William seemed too amused to help her, but thanks to Getty we were able to piece it all together.

Click through for a full look at Kate Middleton's baby bump, her ensemble (including an elaborate updo), and a slightly embellished account of how it all went down.
