Director Dishes on New Carine Roitfeld Doc

We've been hearing about a Carine Roitfeld documentary in dribs and drabs since before the first issue of her magazine, CR Fashion Book, even hit newsstands. Fabien Constant is the man behind the camera--he previously filmed Roitfeld for a fantastic mini-doc for W magazine about the editor’s exploits during couture week--and he opened up about what we can expect from the film, and when we can expect to see it.

We've been hearing about a Carine Roitfeld documentary in dribs and drabs since before the first issue of her magazine, CR Fashion Book, even hit newsstands.

Called Mademoiselle C., the documentary follows the creation of the first issue of CR Fashion Book from concept to creation. Fabien Constant is the man behind the camera--he previously filmed Roitfeld for a fantastic mini-doc for W magazine about the editor’s exploits during couture week--and he opened up about what we can expect from the film.

The film is set to premiere some time in September, timed to the start of New York fashion week. Constant tells us it will be like 'Le September Issue.' "[The film] coincided with [Roitfeld's daughter] Julia's pregnancy and suddenly it gave her a new perspective on things," Constant said. "The idea of birth, renewal in CR is linked to what she was experiencing... It is about her arrival in New York, which was a brand new start for her."

In addition to Roitfeld and her immediate family, expect tons of fancy cameos from (ready for this list?): Karl Lagerfeld, Kanye West, Riccardo Tisci, Albert Elbaz, Jean Paul Gaultier, P. Diddy, Alicia Keys, Cassie, Cate Blanchett, Diane Von Furstenberg, Mario Sorrenti, Natalia Vodianova, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Donatella Versace, Mario Testino, Matthew Avedon, Nick Knight, and, of course, Tom Ford. Apparently all of West's cameos involve the rapper chatting up models. Constant tells us Ford, Tisci, and Lagerfeld having starring roles.

Are you ready for Le September Issue, Part Deux? We certainly are.
