File this one under things we could have seen coming: Courtney Love is the face of Hedi Slimane’s latest campaign for Saint Laurent.
Slimane’s last “California grunge”-themed collection for Saint Laurent seemed quite literally inspired by Love’s style in the ’90s. Love even took to her Twitter following the show to tell Slimane that she was “having gasms at the idea of rich ladies buying what we used to wear, finally someone got the actual look exact, no beanies.”
The mutual love fest continues, and now Love is fronting the brand along with several other iconic musicians including Marilyn Manson (that was the photo that Nicola Formichetti tweeted last week), Kim Gordon, and Ariel Pink.
It’s all part of Slimane’s “music project” for the brand (a campaign of portraits of rock stars) and a continuation of the designer/photographer’s love affair with the rock world. Musicians like Beck and Sky Ferreira have already served as Saint Laurent models and Slimane’s fall men’s show was cast entirely with young musicians. According to a release, the musicians all style themselves.
