Dispatch from a Viennese Ball

Los Angeles has an awards season, New York has a benefit season, and in Vienna, there is a ball season. I went to one. Here's what it was like.

Los Angeles has an awards season, New York has a benefit season, and in Vienna, there is a ball season.

Over 450 balls are held in Vienna each winter, the Life Ball to support AIDS and HIV research, the most prominent among them. We're talking Cinderella-style fetes here. Vienna is, after all, the birthplace of classical music and the waltz.

I got the chance to attend one such ball a few weeks ago thanks to Omega, who threw one, called La Nuit Enchantée, to celebrate the launch of the new models of its Ladymatic watch. I still don't know how I got there--I'm not a fancy person and I never had Disney princess day dreams (okay, except for Princess Aurora).

From the prep to the setting (a Baroque palace); from the meal (dusted in gold) to the celebrities (Nicole Kidman is the face of the brand), here's what it was like.
