Fashion and Politics Collide at the White House Correspondents' Dinner

For one night each year at the White House Correspondents' Dinner the worlds of politics, Hollywood, and fashion collide. It's always weird and awesome. Like when Hayden Panettiere met Rahm Emanuel, what did they say to each other? Last night's dinner was perhaps the most fashion-filled to date.

Last night's dinner was perhaps the most fashion-filled to date. Given Anna Wintour's involvement in the Obama campaign, it's no surprise that she was there, wearing a fur stole and shimmery floor-length number she wore to the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards back in November. (Considering the First Lady's penchant for repeating outfits, maybe Wintour was taking a page from Mrs. O's style book?) During his speech, Obama even gave a shout out to his wife's recent Vogue cover.

All the characters from our favorite DC-based shows (Homeland, House of Cards, Scandal, The West Wing--Connie Britton was there and she was in it, ok?) hit the red carpet in stellar looks from the likes of Prada and Wes Gordon. (Our favorite characters from Westeros were there too--thanks for bringing the cast of Game of Thrones Joanna Coles!)

But the best part of the evening had to be President Obama's bangs. Yep, he got them too. During his speech, Obama noted that he'd have to shake things up a bit his second term, so was taking a cue from his wife. What followed was a hilarious montage of the President at various events sporting the First Lady's fringe. (Watch it here.) Mrs. O. laughed herself silly. We love them.
