Game of Thrones Fashion Recap: Everyone Has a Uniform

Warning: Many spoilers ahead. After last week's rather sleepy and depressing episode, Game of Thrones really upped the ante this week. Daenerys finally comes into her own (in the most awesome girl-power way possible), Sansa and Margaery develop a (possibly fake) friendship, and Cersei is still wearing statement necklaces. The over arching fashion theme? Everyone's sartorial signature becomes more codified this episode. The costume breakdown, right this way:

Margaery's Signature Look: Blue and gold tapestry print? Check. Cleavage? Yes. Flowy blue skirt? It's there, too. Epaulet-like shoulder? Yep! Margaery officially has a uniform.

This dress is different than the heavier one with the gold rose belt she's been sporting the last few episodes, but there's definitely a theme here. We'd like to see her branch out. For example, the Tyrell maiden that Lady Olenna chastised for her boring rose embroidery was wearing a lovely green frock. Maybe Margaery can borrow it, after making the proper cleavage modifications.

Margaery and Sansa Are BFF's:

We want to believe that Margaery has Sansa's best interests at heart. Clapton told us that Sansa would befriend someone in the palace and start adopting her style of dress. We can't wait until she loses those heavy curtain dresses and shows a bit of skin--she's young! It's okay to show a little skin!

Varys and Lady Olenna Make a Cute Couple:

Their fake flirting was hilarious. Also: They could totally share outfits.

Cersei's Outfits Are Weighing Her Down:

Cersei obviously has a lot of worries: Her brother/lover Jamie has been missing forever, her son is a psychopath, and her future daughter-in-law is trying to win over the kingdom. Her heavy clothes and jewelry can only be adding to her burdens.

Missandei Is Officially on Daenerys's Side:

Daenerys's new maid is rid of the slinky slave dress and collar she wore as the slaver's translator, and she's now in Daenerys's signature blue. They're even wearing matching capes.

The Unsullied Army:

Their face protectors look like horseshoe crabs. Or sting rays.

(And it is a relief to know that they are not in danger of getting a nipple cut off, now that they are fighting for Daenerys.)
