As rumored, Damir Doma will be the guest designer at Pitti W, the smaller women’s counterpart to the larger Pitti Uomo menswear trade show. One of Paris’s younger designers (he’s just 32), Croatia-born Doma has been steadily gaining acclaim for his austere androgynous collections that exhibit a deft touch with proportion and silhouette. As Doma becomes more known (A$AP Rocky recently name dropped him in “Fashion Killa”), he seems well suited to (and well-deserving of) the spotlight Pitti affords.
Japanese brand Kolor, created by Junichi Abe in 2004, has been named Pitti Uomo’s guest menswear designer. Called a “closely guarded secret” by Style.com (apparently Abe used to refuse to let certain stores stock his collections), Kolor is known for its fluid silhouettes and use of Japanese textiles.
“Kolor and Damir Doma represent two very different stories and cultures,” Lapo Cianchi, Director of Communication and Events at Pitti Immagine said in a release, “but in our opinion, they share the same determination for developing their brands and building a strong business experience based on a very precise, personal and creative inspiration that does not follow mainstream fashion trends.”
Kolor and Damir Doma are scheduled to show in Florence on June 19 and June 20.
