Last year, Woolmark revived its International Woolmark Prize, a global fashion competition that is credited with springboarding the careers of Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld in the '50s.

First, regional contests take place in the U.S., China, Australia, India, Italy, the U.K. and France. The winner of that round receives $100,000 and then goes on to compete in the global competition for another $100,000. In other words, it's extremely beneficial to designers--especially emerging ones.

Today, the U.S. finalists have been announced and the list includes some of our favorites. They are: Creatures of the Wind, Altuzarra, Giulietta, Wes Gordon, WHIT, Timo Weiland, Bibhu Mohapatra, Ohne Titel, Daniel Vosovic, and Tucker by Gaby Basora.

Last year, Sophie Theallet took home the prize. Who do you think will follow in her footsteps?
