At 58, Carine Roitfeld is more in demand than ever.
According to WWD, the editrix worked both sides of the camera for Givenchy’s fall 2013 campaign–styling and starring in it. While Roitfeld is no stranger to styling high profile ad spots, this is the first high fashion campaign she’s fronted.
Riccardo Tisci also tapped Roitfeld’s daughter Julia Restoin Roitfeld to appear in the campaign alongside her mother. (It’s probably only a matter of time until Roitfeld’s granddaughter Romy winds up in a Givenchy ad.)
The Roitfelds are in good company: Amanda Seyfried, Spanish actor Quim Gutiérrez and models Mariano Ontañon and Dalianah Arekion will also feature in the ads, which were shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and will break mid-July.
As for how he chose the cast, Tisci told WWD his models echoed the gypsy inspiration behind his collection. “[They] are real gypsies in their own lives. They are never in one place. They travel the world.”
