Brands shell out big bucks every season to get the biggest faces in fashion to front their campaigns. But the trend this season, somewhat curiously, seems to be steering clear of faces altogether. In the last month alone, three of the industry's biggest brands--Balenciaga, BLK DNM, and now, Saint Laurent--have revealed fall campaigns featuring three of fashion's most may-jor models, their faces entirely hidden from view.

First, Balenciaga released a grayscale campaign image (the first with Alexander Wang at the label's helm) starring the back of a woman whom we've been led to believe is '90s supermodel Kristen McMenamy. Just last week, Gisele Bundchen told us about the raw spontaneity of her BLK DNM campaign shoot: "No hair, no makeup, and really real." But she failed to mention that said hair and makeup would be absent entirely from the resulting ass-centric ad, anyway.

Most recently, we got a peek at Hedi Slimane's latest campaign for Saint Laurent, starring Cara Delevingne. Lensed by Slimane himself, one of the ads features a forlorn-looking, babydoll dress-clad Delevingne staring off into the ocean. Or many she's smiling and her eyes are closed. ...Or maybe she's making that creepy cross-eyed face she's so wont to do. We really just don't know.

What do you think: Are you into this ad trend, or is it just a waste of a pretty (pricey) face?
