Rebecca Minkoff‘s empire just got a little bit bigger. The designer, who already has a successful line of accessories and clothing, launched denim last night, at a party filled with Minkoff devotees like Coco Rocha and Leandra Medine.
“I love denim and I wanted to give my customer another casual staple to add to her wardrobe,” Minkoff told us.
The collection includes three styles of jeans: The Mercer boyfriend jean (with perfectly worn in knee holes), the Jane skinny (in cobalt, grey, white, and medium blue wash), and the Bleecker (my personal fave), a skinny jean with a cool paisley design. There are also two styles of shorts–the Perry in blue and white paisley, and the Crosby boyfriend short–and two styles of perfect casual t-shirts. It’s all very cool-girl; exactly the kind of thing you’d wear on the weekends when you want to look good but not like you tried too hard. And, like everything Minkoff does, her denim range rings in at just the right price point, between $48–$128.
Best of all, each purchase of the collection will trigger a donation to No Kid Hungry, Share Our Strength’s campaign which can connect a child in need with up to 20 meals. “What else is better than getting a new pair of great jeans and at the same time, making steps towards ending childhood hunger?”
Jeans always wind up carving out a special place in our hearts (there is a pair I had in college that I still miss), so we had to ask Minkoff about her own denim first love.
“There was a near and dear pair of jeans that I owned in high school that traveled with me to NYC for college,” she said. “I wore them so much they ended up falling apart, but they were a great pair!”
