We honestly never thought we’d see the day, but it’s happened. Anna Wintour has embraced social media.
Granted, she had a really good reason. As you’ve likely heard by now, the Supreme Court today overturned the Defense of Marriage Act, marking an historic victory in the fight for marriage equality.
Since the ruling came down this morning, it’s already inspired an outpouring of support from brands and celebrities on social media, including members of the fashion community, many of whom are directly impacted by the news.
Today’s rulings are a big step forward for all Americans striving to achieve equality. I couldn’t be happier or more proud. —A.W.

While we don’t know whether Wintour physically pulled out her smart phone, went to her Twitter app, and typed out those words, she clearly wanted to get a message out and accepted that Twitter would be the fastest, most effective way to do it. It was a big step for Vogue and for Anna Wintour, whose tweets we will definitely continue to look out for.
Perhaps Wintour’s new fellow Condé EIC Eva Chen, a tweeting master, has rubbed off on her a little. We’re hoping for a tweet about Wintour’s fave tennis star Roger Federer losing to 116th ranked Sergiy Stakhovsky at Wimbledon next. Maybe a :’( ?
