Karl Lagerfeld probably felt really safe on the set of his latest campaign shoot. The reason: Sébastien Jondeau, Karl Lagerfeld's personal assistant and bodyguard of 14 years, was the model.
Jondeau, a 38-year-old ruggedly handsome "boxing enthusiast" according to WWD, stars in the fall campaign for the Lagerfeld menswear collection. And no it wasn't because Babtiste Giabiconi or some flaky male model forgot to show up. Jondeau's role is being incorporated into the marketing of the campaign. Plus, with celebrities marrying them left and right, are bodyguards ever really just bodyguards anymore?
There will even be a two and a half minute video set to go live on Karl.com, in which Jondeau talks about working for Lagerfeld. Of course, if we were given the opportunity to interview Karl Lagerfeld's personal assistant and bodyguard of 14 years, it would definitely take a lot longer than two and a half minutes, but we're still excited to see it.
According to WWD, Jondeau says things like “I spend all my time with him,” and that if Lagerfeld were ever in danger, he'd protect him "to the end," adding, "I have no limits, to protect him at least.”
Being regular people, we don't know much about bodyguard quality; but it sounds like Lagerfeld has a pretty good one. And it probably doesn't hurt that he also happens to be really attractive.
