After her incredible 13-hour filibuster against a Texas abortion bill Monday, Wendy Davis became a household name.

The filibuster, which became something of a phenomenon with over 100,000 people watching the livestream, has since inspired discussion of everything from reproductive rights to Davis' own history, to the perhaps less important but still awesome pink sneakers she wore while standing all those hours (she wasn't even allowed to lean on anything). According to CNN, there was speculation that she wore pink because anti-abortion Republican feminists have been referred to as "pink elephants."

The sneakers were reportedly Mizuno--the Cut points out that they now have amazing reviews on Amazon such as: "The next time you have to spend 13 hours on your feet without food, water or bathroom breaks, this is the shoe for you. Guaranteed to outrun patriarchy on race day."

While the rest of her outfit may not quite possess that same level of functionality, it's pretty fashion-forward. Erdem confirmed via Twitter that he designed her dress. (Erdem is also a favorite of Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton.)

When Lena Dunham instagrammed a photo of Davis noting her Erdem dress, she was criticized for detracting from what Wendy Davis did by talking about what she wore. Maybe we will be criticized, too. But given what Davis wore, she obviously cares about fashion in addition to women's rights. She cares about how she presents herself, how what she wears communicates something just as her words and actions do. And we don't think there's anything wrong with that. And, it's worth noting, neither does Michelle Obama.
