It may not be as a teacher for Central Saint Martin's, but it sounds like John Galliano's next gig could bring him to London.

According to the Daily Mail, the designer's comeback could involve a costume designing gig for a West End play--specifically Stephen Fry's forthcoming production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.

The Mail reports that Fry wants the costumes to be so impressive that they inspire applause as soon as the curtains go up. He's also said to be in talks with Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton as well as Roland Mouret.

While under quite different circumstances, Galliano does have a bit in common with the show's playwright, Oscar Wilde--who fell from grace when a homosexual double life became public knowledge shortly after the play's opening night.

Maybe this is just the sort of solo comeback (sans Anna Wintour's help) that the New York Times' Cathy Horyn was advocating for Galliano.

We reached out to Galliano's rep for confirmation and will report back if we hear more.
