When we heard, earlier this month, that Kate Moss would be embarking on a new design project, we got excited. Remember how good her Topshop collection was? Then we found out she'd be designing... cell phone covers. And we were a little less excited. And a little more confused.
Cell phone covers? Really?
But the supermodel's collection for the UK phone dealer Carphone Warehouse has just been unveiled (it hits stores--and hopefully online--on July 24) and surprise, surprise, it's pretty cute. There's a mock-croc case with a gold details, a simple leather cover with a precious little silver anchor stamped in the corner, and one with a silver star and metal hardware. According to Vogue UK, the cases were inspired by Moss's favorite things: a star-shaped necklace; a crocodile skin Alfred Dunhill lighter; and the anchor tattoo on her wrist, which is a recurring motif as well as the logo for the collection.
Moss told Vogue that she took on the collab because she felt there was "nothing else like it out there there... nothing really luxury, nothing really chic." (Guess she's ditched her adorably gauche bunny ears cover.) She's so pleased with the results she's already working on a second collection which Moss told the Telegraph will "have all these chains with charms on that you can attach to your phone." If anyone can make cellphone charms cool again, it's probably Kate Moss.
Prices range from £14.99 for smart phone cases to £49.99 for tablet covers.
