Nora's Space-Saving Lamp

My new apartment is pretty small. Sure, it's big enough for one relatively small sized person (that would be me!), but somehow, it's seemingly impossible to find room for a lamp to fit next to my couch. What was I going to do? Live in darkness for the next 11.5 months? Defenestrate my beloved Ikea couch and sit on the floor beneath the glow of a standup lamp? Nay!

Nay!

Instead, after some careful consideration and much Internet perusing, I bought two of these pendant lampshades (plus some basic cord kits). They hang from the ceiling! So they don't take up any floor space whatsoever. They're sophisticated--the shimmery color is neutral so it doesn't clash with my furniture, but still pretty enough to make a statement (such as "I am a lovely lamp"). And because their height is adjustable, I'm able to avoid that dreaded overhead lighting that literally makes me want to vomit ughghghghgh. Genius, I know.
