Karl Lagerfeld is kind of the king of saying unsolicited things about any topic or person he pleases and he knows it. The latest example of this unchanging quality: his desire to give fashion advice to not-so-stylish German chancellor Angela Merkel.

The German-born designer told German weekly Focus (as translated by Global Post) that even though his "understanding is that she doesn't want advice," he feels she should dress "according to her special proportions." He goes on: "The proportions were bad, like the cut. The pants were too long."

It's not the first time he's given Berkel fashion advice in a public forum. Perhaps it's because she won't doesn't have time to talk in person--even when she is in Paris. "When she comes to visit the French president, François Hollande, she is completely busy," Lagerfeld explained.

He wouldn't want to interrupt their time anyway, given his interest in Franco-German relations.
