That Max Azria, always the charmer. Backstage at his BCBG show he hammed it up in front of the camera with a veritable who’s who Hollywood beauties: Heidi Klum, Jamie Chung, Selita Ebanks, the list goes on. Still it makes one wonder, just who is the BCBG woman?
“She’s a woman of 2014 who’s in love with the world–she’s modern,” Azria told us backstage.
And how does he manage to keep the line fresh, season after season? “We take a shower every day,” he laughed.
Well, there was certainly a clean and crisp feel to BCBG’s spring summer collection. The first looks out, in a palette of bright whites and pale blues, offered up a feminine take on a men’s dress shirt. It was cut up and cropped, wrapped and draped, easy, simple dressing. Azria’s humor was evident in the clever way skirts were cut out just before the hem.
Busy prints on maxi dresses appeared in sharp contrast to the stark white shirt dresses. These were more romantic looks for the woman who is “in love with the world” with a leather harness thrown in for good measure. Just another knowing wink from Max Azria. His sense of humor has served him well–the brand is celebrating 25 years in business this year.
