“The collection this season was inspired by a Parisian girl in New York,” Charlotte Ronson—wearing her white leather eyelet-trimmed cut-out dress—explained at the start of her spring 2014 presentation. “She’s intellectual and studious with a little bit of a mischievous twist. [The collection is] almost sweet, but very all-about-the-body. It has a little bit of offbeat glamour with a sex appeal complimented with a tomboy and bookworm charm. If that makes any sense whatsoever.”

It does and her inspiration melange definitely played out in the adorable, but rebelliously cheeky details, such as, a wink-wink print of aqua-stemmed white cherries on a black background (the sweetheart neckline cut-out jumpsuit is super cute), charming floral prints on dresses with strategically placed cut-outs, body-con silhouettes and leather paneling, girly Peter Pan-collars on peek-a-boo knits and the NYFW-ubiquitous crop tops with sugar sweet accents.

Does Ronson have any favorite pieces amongst the collection or is that like asking one to choose a favorite child?

“I think I love all the prints, I love all the full rompers,” she said after thinking for a moment. “The leather jacket is one of my favorites because it has that sweet tomboy look to it and then when you unzip it, you see the eyelet. So it’s very feminine, but it seems tough at the same time.”

The styling gave the collection a Gallic intellectual tomboy abroad feel with soft, extreme-parted, side-swept hair and a smattering of geek-chic glasses. Ronson is also jumping onto the clever nameplate necklace resurgence (can we thank Lanvin for that?).

“Baublebar did it,” the designer explained while gesturing to her personalized "Charlotte" design. “All the girls have different solid colors in plastic and they say, I’m a 'gamine,' 'bookworm' or 'tomboy.' So it spoke to the collection because you just put [any necklace] on any of the looks and it still speaks to that word.”

The presentation was insanely packed with frenzied iPhone pic-snapping attendees pushing their way through to the stationary models and a pretty impressive celebrity guest list. Fashion favorite Harley Viera-Newton DJed the bash (wait, where was Samantha?) and Jessica Alba, Rashida Jones and the freaking Hilton Sisters stopped in to check out the collection and pose for the paps.
