The Emporio Armani girl this season was one of those girls who looks totally chic, seemingly without even trying. That gamine who looks feminine and smart regardless of whether she’s wearing a skirt or a suit. …Even if she has crazy super tight ringlets atop her head–as Armani’s girls did.
The show started out with conservative skirt and cardigan pairings followed by a lot of dark, menswear-inspired, wide-legged pantsuits. Things gradually got a little more springy with printed pants and dresses, pastel brocade coats, weirdly appealing iridescent tights, and lovely, subdued leafy prints that served as a nice alternative to the season’s overdone florals. The palette overall was icy and cool.
Towards the end, Armani showed some ultra girly cocktail dresses that were almost too sweet and cupcake-y. But the last few were a little more subtle, with light embroidery, that successfully exuded the same youthful, timeless charm the whole collection gave off.
Our only grievance is that the show could have been edited down a little–many looks were more or less repetitions of one another.
