Expect even higher leg slits from the next Versus collection than usual: WWD is reporting a rumor that Anthony Vaccarello, the man who made Anja Rubik’s right hip bone famous, will be the next guest designer for the Donatella Versace-orchestrated line. And when WWD reports a rumor… it’s usually true.
If, in fact, it is true, Paris-based Vaccarello will be the second guest designer to take over the creative director role at Versus since Christopher Kane left his post at the label last November–which was followed by Versace announcing a total reformatting of the brand. The first guest designer, British up-and-comer J.W. Anderson, unveiled his androgynous, club-kid friendly collection for Versus back in June–and as much as we loved it, we think it’s definitely time for someone to step in and inject the line with a little more sex appeal. Vaccarello could be just the guy for the job.
We’ve reached out to Versus for comment and will update whe we hear back.
