Aspiring Vogue-ers take note: There's about to be a lot of room at the top of the glossy's masthead.

Two top editors, senior market editor Meredith Melling Burke and bookings editor Valerie Boster, are both leaving the magazine to start a mysterious new venture together, WWD is reporting.

Burke's departure comes as a bit of a surprise. She's always been one of the Vogue's most visible editors, a fixture on the front row scene and a frequent mouthpiece for the magazine. Most recently she appeared on the Today show to promote the magazine's October issue, which apparently has a whole "budget-friendly" component. (Though we kind of have a feeling that Vogue's idea of "budget-friendly" varies greatly from ours.)

No word yet on who will succeed Burke, but, in the meantime, her duties will be split between four staffers, including accessories editor Selby Drummond, and Jessica Sailer, a market editor. Boster will be replaced by Helena Suric, a model manager at DNA Models.

Burke declined to give more info on her and Boster's new project, but said details would be coming soon. “We have learned so much in our combined 25 years at Vogue, and look forward to applying this knowledge to our new venture,” she said.

Hm... our best guess is that the two are launching their own online magazine, with an e-commerce component. Watch this space.
