I know, I got excited, too. But it figures that the former Carrie Bradshaw already called dibs on the first and only Prabal x Theyskens gown to ever grace the planet at the big New York City Ballet Hollywood-meets-fashion-meets-culture gala last night.
The very posh annual ball was even splashier this season, with a trio of top choreographers debuting ballets with dancers outfitted in costumes by mega designers (Mr. Natalie Portman, Benjamin Millepied with Iris Van Herpen; Justin Peck with Prabal Gurung; and Angelin Preljocaj with Olivier Theyskens). And, of course, the event chairperson, Sarah Jessica Parker, was dressed in the ultimate collab piece: a custom-designed pink and cream ballgown designed by both Gurung and Theyskens.
The whole collaborative process sounded pretty smooth--Gurung created the architectural contrast-paneled satin paneled bustier top, while Theyskens designed the minimalist and structured silk-organza skirt. But who was the genius behind this Frankenstein-in-a-good-way sartorial plan?
"We got together last night at like seven o'clock," SJP told Elle. "I saw it for the first time, and I was like, 'Done!' It was Olivier's idea, and I was totally charmed by it."
We are, too. Now if those two would think about getting together for a three-way-collaboration, with, say, H&M or something, that would be GREAT.
