It’s fashion month, and that means binge eating between shows, no sleep, drinking sometimes not-so-responsibly at after-parties, and staring at a computer for hours–all of which lead to the dreaded dark under eye circles. In preparation for this most stressful time of the year, I called in concealers from pretty much every brand I could think of to find the best ones for hiding your sins.
Many brands offer multiple concealers, because you often need different coverage for the skin under your eyes vs. the skin on your face. A lot of under eye products feature brightening pigments, which is something you definitely don’t want to put on say, a blemish (it’s like shining a light on it).
So how do you choose? What I’ve picked up from watching makeup artists is that you should look for a peach toned concealer to cover up bluish dark circles and yellow to cover purple tones. Also you have to take into account the condition of the skin around your eyes. If you have fine lines, definitely look for something more hydrating or the product will sit in those lines. And always use a moisturizer first before you try to conceal. The final rule: PAT the product in, never rub and smear.
