There is this theory of a 20-year cycle in fashion. It dictates that trends which were in two decades ago have a tendency to reemerge, and wouldn’t you know it, like clockwork, the ’90s are everywhere. While grunge is currently having its moment for fall/winter 2013, minimalism looks to be in store for spring/summer 2014.
Delicate slip dresses are lining the catwalks with modern updates like monochromatic, color-blocking at Helmut Lang, paired with pants at Richard Chai Love, or with an iridescent finish at Rag & Bone. Mostly shown in pastels, designers are opting out of the lace details of the ’90s staple, something we’re not too sad about.
